So we both pull up to a red light. He guns it and I follow. I think he was getting annoyed that he couldn't shake me, I was on his tail about 1/2 car length behind when we hit the speed limit (55 mph) and I let off the gas. Not bad for having 1/3 the displacement :)
He definitely had a modded car- exhaust so loud that I couldn't hear my own poor 1.8T above it at all. Pretty sure it had a hemi, unless he slapped the badge on himself.
I'm almost positive I could have stayed even if I had nice tires and a nicer clutch. I'm sure it would have been closer too if it hadn't been so warm out.
my mods:
K04 PC16
half an airbox mod
dual OEM side mount IC... one behind the other
snub mount
polyurethane tranny mount
dieselgeek shortshift
rear differential delete (aka fwd [:p] )
adjustable FPR (set to 2.8 bar)
N75 race
I know that my stock cat/exhaust is restricting the system. I get almost no power below 3000, and after that it just takes off. Not too sure if this is how the PC16 file is by nature, but I expected a much smoother powerband, especially with the N75 race valve.
btw street racing is bad. [headbang]

you should have done better than that...

you should have done better than that...
thats for sure.
besides the exhaust being a requirement and FMIC...i don't see that in your list. your PC16 file can't be running right at all.

I'm running 310CC red tops right now. Do you guys really think I should have done better? I've never taken the car to a 1/4 mile track before and don't really plan to. From what I've seen the magnums do about a 14.5 quarter mile, which is pretty close to what I would expect to be doing myself. Of course we ended at 55 mph so it's hard to say what would have happened after.
For me the car feels peppy enough as is. I don't plan for it to be a fast car, just one that's not embarassingly slow. I'll be done with engine mods for a while after putting on a straight through exhaust.
Now to figure out that oil pressure light...

oil pressure light = sludge causing a clogged oil pump. Could be a malfunctioning oil pump from other sources

Haha, rear deferential delete, nice one.

your definetly not runnning as fast as you can since you dont have a FMIC and you IAT's are definetly above 60* with that OEM SMIC. And your stock is exhaust is killing you as well. You should have definetly beat the R/T now the SRT8 is a whole new story...

straight through exhaust would be make you lose horsepower. since the k03/k04 require some backpressure. i lost 15awhp/20awtq by running open downpipes on the dyno...just to show that for k03/k04 setup...that actually causes a loss in HP. when you start getting into some serious turbos....then running straight exhaust is better. for the case of the 1.8T w/k03/k04s....do not run it.
and you car NEEDS an FMIC....you should prolly be pinging or have detonation since PC16 is an aggressive timely file and your without FMIC. you need it to keep the IATs down and you don't have exhaust on. not the best way to start it off. you should be running a standard k04 file at this point until you have the money to do it right.

I'm running dual side mounts, which seems to be working fine for now. Haven't experienced either pinging or detonation, but it hasn't really gotten hot here yet. I already have all the parts for a front mount, but opted for something different for now since it is very easy to get pulled over in irvine if you drive a modified car. Once I get a chance I'll vag the IAT's to see if I'm within spec. If not I'll toss the FMIC on there.
As for the exhaust, I'll still have a catalytic converter on as well as 2 mufflers (2.5 piping throughout).

well dual side mounts is a start.
i would VAG to see where it stands as far as IATs. the exhaust is key and IATs....besides the injectors....in order for it to perform these are musts. without question.
i still have my stock cat on. milltek exhaust but stock cat. PC16 - 93 octane file.

technically you dont have dual SMIC since you just have one oem SMIC in front of the other so its pretty much doing nothing

And it does so much in the first place over there?

You are running the PC16 file without a FMIC or exhaust?
If that is true...get yourself those mods.. it will make a world of difference.
