View Full Version : New plugs after chipping
So I've been told new plugs would help after chipping...
NGK BKR6E or NGK BKR7E ?
Are these plugs single, double or quad. diode?
If they are single, then they have to be gapped, correct?
-What gap should be used?
How much do they have to be torqued?
thanks

Exactly right. You don't need to colder plug on a stock turbo.
I am running BKR7E's with my K04. When I was running the stock K03 with GIAC software I used BKR6E's.
Gapped at 0.032"
The plugs are simple and cheap, with a 'V' channel. Tighten by hand, then turn 180 - 240 degrees with a socket (usually 180 is fine).
Change them every 5000 miles.

is there really a difference when changing your plugs after chipping a K03? i hear it's psychological.

I changed mine to the 7E's after I got the GIAC chip. Stock turbo, ordered the wrong ones but didnt seem to have any problems. I noticed idle got smoother and Ive been getting great gas mileage. No clue if its all related but if I hear one person say I drive like an old man to get good gas mileage.....ljsahdfljashdflasjhfd!!!!!

I've had better results on my BKR6E with a .027 gap, i.e. OEM gap.
