I was to purchase t3/t4 turbo and make a manifold and purchase some 440cc injectors and run it with revo software? Do you guys think that will work? I hate the K series turbos and I think the Gt28rs is toooo expensive for me... I think the stock clutch can handle the power okay for awhile too. What do you guys think? It should be alot cheaper than the gt28rs with better gains perhaps? The other guy with T28 (vs the m3 video) didn't mention anything about any other mods besides the programming and the turbo plus manifold so does that mean I don't need anything else?

The T3/T4 would never spool. The car would be useless on the street. I know a guy (Terry from Innovative Turbo) who had one on his car and took it off. First gear is useless because the turbo makes no boost at all. The t3/t4 is just too big for a 1.8 liter motor. The best bet, if you want a big turbo, is to go with either a T28 or GT28. By the way, getting a T3/T4 would not be cheaper then a T28, not even close.
what kind of software would be compatible with the GT28?

Where should one purchase the T28 turbo? What are the main components that go along with installing the T28? This turbo upgrade is something I am going to do in the near future but I'm a noob and I don't want to mess up any engine reliability by not having the proper component/parts that should go along w/ a turbo upgrade.

Don't buy this kit. It is a complete piece of crap. I had it and so did Drew and it just does not work properly. David's car is a custom setup. He has my old PES manifold, my T28 turbo (from Innovative not PES) and then custom software and injectors. Don't bother with this kit, it simply does not work.

If you wanna buy a kit then you have two choices either the PES kit which some peopl dont like or the ATP hardware kit. If you cant get a T28 you can always get a GT25 which comprable to the T28 from ATP they sell the GT25 and GT28. Honeslty the PES kit is great it is all the software that makes a kit or breaks it. If your turbo is not tuned rigth you wasted alot of money. So get the kit you want or peice the kit together. End result is if you dont have the right software your not going anywhere.

Guys, I've got some good news. Me and a friend (and I think you all can guess who that is) are going to put together a new Big Turbo kit with the M3 killing software included. So give us a few days to discuss the details and we will let you know if we are a go to produce the kit.

The B5's just handle the larger turbo upgrades soooo much better than the B6's do..
You cant really compare the 2..

True but the hardware is all the same, it comes down to the programing no matter what year.

Mike,
The hardware is a problem on the B6 as well. The reason for that is Audi modified the engine mounts for the B6 so the engine moves around more in the B6 which in turn causes the bolts that hold the turbo to the manifold to break. Even really good hardware (grade 8 studs) doesn't help. That is why the PES kit just does not work on the B6. I got this information directly from PES. I don't blame PES for this, but it is reality.

Not necessarily. Read my post above and check out the video of the B6 pulling on the M4. More of that is to come. [;)]

Well im talking about kits direct form tuners. I see you are wokring on one and I hope it works out cause you guys need to upgrade those turbos and kick some ass. It would be ncie to see some of you guys enter my world. [;)]

t3/t4 kits will work with our engines.. GTi's slap in t3/t4's successfully.. im sure with enough tuning it'd work in our cars also

Not on the street. Plus since the GTi is lighter it can spool a little faster because it can move easier. The T3/T4 will work, but it won't be any good on the street. I rode in one and it was horrid. Why do you think no big tuner is even trying to make a kit with them? Unless your car is a dedicated drag racer then forget this combo. It is worthless on the street or road course. The only application would be drag racing where you dump the clutch at 5000+RPM and never look back.

Alot of "true" Honda tuners run T3/T4's on their 1.8L's and 1.6L's without a spooling problem. So I dont see how a T3/T4 would be too big for Audi's 1.8L motor. But im new to Audi's, so who knows.

I used to tune Honda's and I know a little about them. Tell me how many Honda's do you know of running T3/T4s on the street? Also, how many of them weigh over 3400 lbs? These Hondas running T3/T4 turbos are drag cars not street cars. They may claim that they are street cars but no one is driving them everyday unless they are crazy. To get that turbo to spool and have any boost with an 1800cc motor you would have to be above 5000 RPM all the time. Not a good idea on the street. I know some 7 second Mustangs that claim to be street cars but really they just "pass" for street cars, they really aren't. You know what I mean? This can also be said for small displacement motors running large turbos.
Actually your half right on that part.
My old car was " streetable " with a 6 puck race clutch from ACT running 7lbs on a T3/T4. I had a few tranny problems (went through 5), but the car was streetable and it was daily driven. It wouldn't be too adviseable to do so, but with little knowledge of Audi motors, I guess Honda's higher compression played a part. It barely made boost in first gear, ill give you that. But second gear hit some boost at about 4-4500 RPM's and at a higher rev it would hit about 6lbs. The car weighed in with me in it at 2300lbs. The motor took a beating for about 8 months before the crank decided to spin a rod bearing. But thats a whole different story.
Yeah I agree with you on the whole streetable part. After ditching the boost, the car went with a 1.8L motor, rev'ing out to a cool 9500RPMs. N/A was much better.

Yeah, that is exactly what I meant. It can be done, like I said, just not worth while. The Honda motor does have more compression, higher revving capabilities, and has less weight to pull so it would handle the bigger turbo better. Our heavier cars would have a hell of a time trying to get going with all the weight, Quattro, and the serious lag of a T3/T4. I totally agree with you, maybe I just stated it wrong.
Its all good. Just wanted to clear things up. [:D]

ok...so T28 it is? is there that much difference between the T28 and the Gt28rs that there should be such a humongous price difference? What about the gt25?

There is a difference but the main issue is this: who is going to tune it for you? The GIAC tune that comes with the PES T28 kit just does not work (just look at my old threads or Drew's). And the GT28RS doesn't even come with software. That is why no one is jumping on the big turbos right now. Everyone is waiting for a kit that works and proves itself. APR is coming out with one, I suggest you wait and see how that turns out.

Derrick, his carputer is LONG GONE!! He now has the double din kenwood thingy ma jig...
Anyways I was thinking of running the gt28rs software David has at Ecode but gt28rs hardware is still 2400 just for the hardware!!! since i can get a manifold made and buy a separate t28 turbo i was thinking of running that along with the Ecode revo software like the M3 killer guy (Silence) and still be within my budget...

That software is not for sale, it is a custom tune; unless you can convince David to sell it to you.
