I have a buyer interested in buying the brake kit I have for sale, but he wants to pay with COD, I ship it UPS, and when he gets the package, he gives the UPS driver the Money Order/Certified Check. I talk to UPS, and they said they woudl not hand over the package without receiving a Certified Check/Money Order. However, I am still wary of completing this transaction this way, but it is for the price that I would like to sell this brake kit for, so that makes me want to go through with it. Has anyone on here ever shipped with the COD option and had it come out with no problems? Just wanted to ask before shipping this out. Thanks guys.

Alright, thanks. I had never heard of this option before, so just wanted to check with someone before going ahead.

The transaction is safe. The only issue is that you'll have to wait for payment.

There are fees associated with this...

that's the preferred way I like to do purchases because it's safe for both buyer and seller.

Yea it's pretty safe, but make sure you contact UPS and find out all assosciated fees first so you won't get screwed if they start charging for things.

UNLESS the buyer uses one of those bogus money orders...
UPS also takes checks eventhough they say certified check or money order.
Plus they charge 1% or something similar to use this service.

nope, too easy to get screwed with a fake check

I talked to UPS, and they assured me that they would only accept monery order/certified check, is this not true based on what was said above?...Also, the interested party gave me their number to call (I wanted to alleviate some concerns), and he has not answered/returned my calls, and his message system just has the number, not a name, etc, Which concerns me...

it takes ten minutes to sign up with paypal.
Not saying that people haven't got jerked via paypal either...
sketchy buyer = move on to the next.

Yeah, he said he has been screwed by paypal, and therefore will not use them anymore, I have ran into this before, that did not alarm me, it was the fact that he will not return my calls, even though he gave me a number to call...

I would say no. Again, all it would take is a fake money order.

BELLOFELLO, could you please explain to me what safeguards there are for the seller if the money order is a fake?...otherwise, thats what I am thinking I am going to have to do, and move on to the next person in line. Thanks guys for your input.

Well, ended up not going through, the buyer would not answer his phone or call me when he said he would, and eventually he backed out (maintenance). Thanks for all the info, and it seems that in general, for high value items such as this, this is not the desirable way to make a transaction...
