The B6 itch...

Ok, let me preface this by saying that I LOVE my car and even though it's technically for sale, I'd pretty happy if it didn't sell. That said, The B6 has been growing on me for some time now. I like it alot. Maybe I'm becoming a softy in my old age (30) but driving my car around as a daily driver gets less and less appealing as the power goes up. Of course, the car has no cat so it's loud and smells funny...plus it creaks and rattles like a normal 150k mile car would....

I don't know....the allure of the B6 is getting much stronger as of late. a nice 2002 w/ around 60k mi can be had for under $14k pretty easily. I'd love to keep my car as a toy/project but my finances just don't allow for it at this time. The thing is that my car is at a fork in the road at the moment: Either build the motor, or sell it to someone who can and will take it to the next level. Of course, I could just drive it as is but what fun would that be.

It also seems that the eliminators are the "easy" recipe to get a fat B6 into the 12's. that seems pretty appealing to me in addition to the updated exterior/interior of the B6.

what do you all think? I'm just kicking ideas around....I think about cars ALL DAY LONG.

The B6 is a nicer car thats easier to live with, but the more you mod it the less friendly it becomes to daily driving. They are heavier and most BT kits put them in the mid 13s. You'll probably need a built motor or custom turbo setup to run 12s.

after a mazda gtg i was at this weekend, i really love the mazdaspeed6... one put down 276awhp with a gt3071r on the stock ecu... i cant wait to see what it will do with a tune...

Hmm, I haven't been much of a B6 fan. I've been leaning towards going the BMW route after my B5, but I ran across this site today (www.a4mods.com) and now I don't know. I might look back and see today as the day I first fell in love with the B6 . . .

If your finances will allow you to buy a b6 and put an eliminator (which comes to about $2500+ to get it into the 12's), how don't you have money to build your motor? B6's don't look quite european to me like the b5 does (not hating). They look more g-love to me, sorry I'm old school don't kill me over it. Look to the big picture of the never ending car payment. I'm over 200k and don't want to make another payment for a while. 388 bucks a month towards the fun account in addition to the hobby money.
Edit: Alright wilco, some of those looked pretty good. If you could start with a car at $14g and get a loan for $20 I'd get one---na. I'd buy a b5 s4 and k04 it.

Hey lets get a car that requires no skill to be fast and that every high school kid can get with their parents money and go around racing people for fun because they can shift gears while others pay for their car fix it themselves and maybe those kids cars arent as fast but they at least know shit about their car... Hey 94Jedi I had a B5, I miss the NDBW and agility of that car but the B6 is soooooo smooth and I love the style it has. Some kids at my school tell me I have one of the best looking cars in the school (competing with Evos/STIs/BMWs/etc)

Your in HS and you have a b6, I am pretty sure your parents bought that one for ya bud. If there are kids that drive those to your school then so be it. Sounds like a bunch of spoiled turds to me. I would just wait until the price of the B7 A4 2.0T comes down a bit.....hopefully that'll happen fairly soon when the new B8 A4 comes out.....could still be fairly pricey though....but is def more of a worthwhile upgrade from the B5, if your gonna stick with an A4

Ha pretty sure I started out with $500 in stocks and turned it into $5000 and then worked 3 summers 40 hours a week since I was going into high school to pay for it.... and I install everything myself because I dont have $$ to bring it to the dealer

And as for me being spoiled and hypocritical Im not in any way. My dad got me into cars but died when I was 10, my moms a school nurse... ill have to find the link but the kit for the swap is no more then 2grand,and my brother is on supraforums(used to own one) and he finds 2jz's all the time for like 3-5thousand tops w/ the tranny. its do able but this wont be for a while,i plan on fully bolting the car and after that ill decide where to go from there. i've seen vids on youtube where this guy in florida does it for 15grand,yea its close to 20 but i plan on doing this w/ my brothers!!!so it wont cost nearly as much to do,8-10tops.

yea i hear you on that one bro,but we all know how hard it is to mod a 2.8l 30valve.my one brother has an 03 red evo,and my other has an 04 red wrx,so now i need to step up the game a bit,and a red S2000 would be quite nice,even though its not awd which is a downfall it would still make me happy. i thought about an S4 but in this period of my life,i cant afford one right now and if i want to mod,its going to be even harder. eventually i will end up getting one though b/c it is one of my top favorite cars but its not for me right now!!!

i have been seriously thinking about getting out of my car, its hard though becuase i just did so much work on it. stage 5 clutch and put in some scat rods and aeb pistons, so shes ready for the bt, but i just am a little sick of the 1.8, i would love to have maybe a 2.5l turbo. I really want displacment but i dont think i can get out of the turbo scene just yet.

^^^ sorry those just dont do much for me, i they are to small for me, and maybe its the fact that i always see 40-50 year old men driving them and it just seems rediculous to me. I just feel that there are way nicer cars out their for that kinda coin, but thats just me. damn what kinda f'in school do you go to?! I'm in high school and there are only 2 euro car owners..me and some other b5.5 passat dude. every1 else drives civics, preludes, old teggy's, old corollas (not the hachi roku versions) and integras with the GS engines! I had to get the celica to blend in with them :|

and so now you own this B6 spend the 5k or 6k, FMIC, EXHAUST, CLUTCH, TURBO KIT. everyone on there seems to be pushing that turbo to the breaking point and actually breaking them. plus the design in and of itself is inferior. now i don' t know if you own your A4 out right or not...i'm assuming so....and then buying the car for 14k...i'm assuming your going to get some kind of loan on this? if not that would be slightly better. but your still doing the same thing to a slightly newer car. and at 60k it needs its timing belt done....the k03s is prolly on its way out the door. go for a low mileage car or none at all. or just keep the B5 and not have car payments....i love that. though i'm about to buy a new car (Audi A5).

if you don't like the B5 for you daily...just keep it and lease a car then...get yourself a B7 A4 or something to get around in. that way you keep the wear and tear off the B5 A4.

yeah i'm telling you...its not the same as when i went to high school 13yrs ago. i graduated in 1994, but they didn't roll like that back then....now its every high school. look up napeville, IL on google. its one of the biggest towns in the country something like 150k people in that town alone. besides it being affluent.
along with hinsdale, downers grove, deerfield, highland park, forest park, barrington high school. where i see mommy & daddy come pick their kids up in the rolls phantom. its like 90210 around here. wasn't always that way for all those areas. but it is now some 13yrs later.

nah, you guys are right....I'm keeping the B5 for now and moving on with mod plans....Just doesn't make any sense to sell it. I'll keep the FS thread alive, bumping it occasionally but that's about it.

but i just test drove the B6 im buying, and that thing is AMAZING. the car is definately a step up from the B5 (and im face-lift). car has a few extra things that mine. but it just feels so much more solid. and this is 02 non USP. i can't imagine how nice a USP 6spd would be
