Seems like this head unit is a hot topic right now. But I have been looking all over on here and online and cant seem to find the wiring harness for the Pioneer AVIC-D3.
I have a 01 A4 with symphony.
In a thread on here someone posted up this harness. But it says it's for a 02-05 symphony. I just want to make sure this will work on my 01 symphony? I'm pretty sure the 01 is the same as the 02???

hey sniper I just installed my d3 in my 2003 a4. I was having issues with this one as well, but I ended up using that same harness. It is made by metra # 07-1787. I do however have a audi bose symphony II, but on the package for the harness it says 1997-2002 models. Again I have an 03 a4, and it works great. this is a great unit for the price. I actually got mine for 750 brand new
I had a hookup. Good luck and enjoy the finished product

Do you still have your steering wheel controls? Or you don't happen to have that module?

On my model a4 I dont have the controls on my wheel. Its weird because I dont even have a light dimmer by my light switch. So for now when I drive at night, My navigation is bright as hell! Even though I tinted all of my windows including my windshield you can still see it at night! It is kind of cool because people that pull up next to me start to look inside my car. But i did hear that you can connect the d3 to your existing controls, but in my case I would have to purchase the pioneer steerign wheel control. I dont think I will though.

I actually got it installed Tue. at my buddies place. I picked it up for $800... Pretty sweet unit I have to say. I'm still playing around with all the settings and stuff. But the nice thing is they hooked it up so I can watch movies while the car is moving. Not like I actually watch it...

Ya I totally agree with you. My friend and I did the same thing too. I can watch movies while driving. I choose to watch movies and make my girl drive. I love how you can customize the lights to match the Audi red lights! It makes the unit look as if it was meant to be there. Hey put up some pix if you can. Ill put some up too, so that others can see. I also highly recommend the wireless remote for this unit!

Question on the D3 regarding the optional equipment...
does anybody know of a cheaper source to get the bluetooth module?
and can I use my Dension DICE integration kit, or do i have to buy the ipod integration wire from pioneer? and also if anybody knows a cheaper source for this as well?

I paid $120 for the bluetooth module and $89 for the Sirius module...
was not so bad, the RSN-E bluetooth is like $400!!

The d3 really does not look cheap! It sits perfectly in the dash, and since you can customize the lighting color, it makes it look OEM. Post some pix up when you have it done. I will post pix up as well.
