cars which would it be?
All of these cars are in the mid 30 grand range.
A: CPO 04 / 05 Audi A8
B: 07 Audi A4 2.0T Sport (Chipped)
C: 07 Infiniti G35 Sport

I have my B5 for "speed" and i want another car that my shorty can drive as well.
It will most likely be automatic because she refuses to learn stick. I even offered to rent a manual car for her to learn on and she isn't hearing it.

A: Most power big dog luxury vehicle
B: Underpowered vehicle but a chip will make it livable
C: More powerful than the A4 but have become very saturated in the market and the new g37 will be out next model year.

Please vote and give me your honest opinion on what you would choose and why

I'd have to say the G35 because they sound/look so good off the showroom floor and I like smaller cars...Oh yea my vote is for the G35 coupe not the four door

I don't need another small car... Plus the coupe is way to common and my boy already has one

Mid 30's will get you a 2004 Jag XJ8. Much nicer than the A8 and a hell of a lot more reliable. More distinctive, more comfortable, faster, and better gas mileage too. That or an XJR will probably be my next car.

Ebay link.

Transporter 2 made the A8L so badass... as long as its an L

g35 are cool but you just said you dont need a small car. (coupe?)

Your 3 are all over, from an A8 to a g35

Jags are nice, I drive my parents 3.0 S-type durring the dry times of the winter, but its a Ford, and its expensive as hell to fix... They have had enough problems with it in 35k miles, and its an 02....

its not all over the place just the a8 is the odd one out...
i just saw that the 04 s4 4.2L are going for that much as well i might look into that as well.

I want speed but i don't want to have to mod crazy
just rims and tint and go.

i wish the s4 had dsg... [:(]

Id definitely look into a B6 S4 over an A8 or A4.

For me the older s8's look great and fly, have stature and every option possible. I'm w/onemoremile on the xjr thing too. They're very affordable and look sick in/out.
I voted a8 to stick to your poll because my wife said she wanted one when they first came out at the auto show. There's no s8 flag on the smilies (to immature for s8 owners?) or I would have put one.

The S-Type is a turd and should be avoided at all costs. The 2004+ XJ8 and XJR have nothing in common with it whatsoever. My wife's boss has an S-Type and it is nothing but problems. It is also several hundred pounds heavier and quite a bit slower than the larger and more comfortable XJ series.

A modern Jaguar is not a Ford any more than a Lamborghini is a VW. Somehow they've managed to get the best of Ford's modern engineering and lean manufacturing processes without picking up any of their mediocrity. Remember that these are still built in England by people that care.

One more worth considering is the VW Phaeton. Loads cheaper than a A8 for a car of the same caliber.

A8 for me it just so conservative and sporty at the same time, cant say nothing bad about it. Onemoremile, didn't the A8 came 2nd to mercedes S550 and the Xj8 was 4th, one step below bmw 740il that came 3rd, so i would think that the A8 would be much better then an xj8(i saw the comparence at car and driver tv show and some other documentaries)> Am with you that the jags are not common anyday

In terms of both reliability and performance the Jag is way ahead of the A8 and the Merc. The Bimmer is very nice except for that awful iDrive interface.

My realtor buddy has an A8 and another friend had an S8. The A8 feels like it has 220hp rather than over 300. That isn't a sporty car in any way. It is surefooted and handles well for it's size but not as well as the BMW or XJR. The Merc, A8, and XJ8 all handle about the same. The S8 is about as sporty as the BMW (which gets it's advantage from active sway bars) but doesn't feel any faster. The S8 just isn't enough of a step up over the A8 to justify the extra cost. You get a bit more hp, badging, and brakes. That is about it from a real world standpoint.

The Merc is a great car but suffers from odd interior choices (the crappy black plastic around the radio, for example) and poor build quality. An IAR at my office has an S500 4Matic that is a very nice car but you can still pick out several compromises the first time you sit in it. That just should not be possible on a near $100k car. An acquaintance sold his W12 A8 (new body, pimp ride) and bought a new Mercedes S550 and says it is a much nicer car than the Audi. I haven't been in the Merc but the guy owns an Audi dealership and bought it from the competition. That should tell you how much more he likes the Merc.

In the end it is all relative. My personal belief is that no one has any business purchasing one of these top shelf cars unless they can write a check for it and another 10 grand for the inevitable expenses.

Buy used- those things' value falls like a stone. 80g's to 25 g's in 5yrs-ouch. Still built well so 5rs old is the way to buy. 14.9 quarter for a big car like the s8 isn't shabby but it's over 120 where they do the talking. .....Some day when I'm old----er. Onemoremile-I couldn't proportionally do the same thing for the a4 w/ the check and xxgrand thing. Maybe different?

Definitely different. The big fancy European cars are hideously complex. Not only do they have more integrated systems requiring more work to get in and out, they were also more expensive to R&D and produce since they don't have the benefit of economy of scale. Lower numbers means higher costs all around. Can't just call a junkyard and find replacement parts either. The A8 and Jag also have higher insurance rates, higher body part replacement costs, and higher labor since they are aluminum.

General rule of thumb is that if the car retailed for twice as much then the repairs and maintenance will also be twice as much.

I really like this one but, the miles are kinda high and there's no CPO on it. Read the window sticker on it (like the 4th pic from bottom):

Insurance on that s4 is a killer... I guess i was in denial...
New Choices due to insurance rates...
It's between:
'05 B7 A4 2.0T

or

'05 A6 3.2

or
'05 A6 4.2

Let me get some feed back

I'm leaning towards the
4.2 just because I'm not going to mod this car besides tint and rims and would need some umph.

not even a chip? Otherwise 2.0t for me. Hp/wt ratio can be cheated with a chip as far as insurance is concerned. If buying an automatic-4.2.

A sweet one sold here a couple years ago. It had a full AWE stage 3 with all the goodies, beefy clutch and drivetrain upgrades, RNS navi, B6 S4 Recaro seats, Stoptech brakes, and an RS6 front end. The car was perfect. Well, would have been if it had been in an S6 Avant body...
