Hate on it all you want 6 speeders but TIP advancement have our cars closely chasing the superior performance of a stick. Slowly but surely i think we can get there, however, before everyone jumps on the "automatics are just as good as sticks" bandwagon id like to celebrate being the minority. I think it was cactus who threw out the idea of a club. for tip owners and yesterday i tossed the idea to ryan(rakete) about making shirts. i ahve a few ideas with 0 pshop skills. so if anyone wants to throw in their 2 cents about a design let me have it.

PS: no macho bs about real men driving sticks and the TIP weighing too much and all that other shizzle.

FrimmelNoJerz

(11:27:05 AM): yo for a shirt idea... how about this going down the back:

P
R
N
D
4
3
2
1

i feel like that would be a good idea on the front of the shirt in small lettering on the pocket area.

FrimmelNoJerz

nah im gonna fly by a place in my town in a while to shoot some ideas to them and see what they say as far as prices. i hate shirts that arent jersey so itll be comfortable and worth the money. i would think it would be more than like 12-15 dollars.

A friend and I were trying to start a very exclusive 400hp Tip club up here in Seattle (he's got an RS6). It never really got off the ground and was more of a joke, but I was kicking around the idea of the Dead Pedal Posse (DPP): Rowing's 4 Sucka's or something like that. Pretty ghey, but they're all going to bash us anyways so might as well live it up!!! [:)]

This is a little unrelated, but I also think if the Avants get their own 'Avants Only' subforum, we Tip owners should lobby for our own subforum as well!!! Perhaps once we settle on a name, we can make our case to the AZ head honchos.

it should just be a general tip section, like the avant one.

"Still Tippin'"

and then on the back it could have a picture of the tiptronic shifter, like you guys have as your avatar.

I think it should be a generic tip section, maybe dividing it by years within the forum though?

if any division, then it should be gen. 1(with 4, 3, 2 modes) and gen. 2(with S mode)

but otherwise we would be stretching it a bit thin.

Just to make this clear.

The TC problem is NOT.....I repeat NOT a HP/TQ related problem. This is a bad seal that goes bad on totally stock cars. Going to K04s is not going to cause the problem. It is just as likely to happen no matter what you do with the car.

Could you benefit from a modified TC, probably.

That right there my friend is exactlly the problem. No one really knows.[rolleyes] So far it *seems* the TIP handles the power just fine. The only exceptions seem to be software issues. (not shifting fast enough not to limp the trans on the 1-2 shift. Which seems to be avoidable by shifting around 5,500-6,000 rpm in tip mode)

I'm sure as we get more high HP tips we will discover new things[;)]

What programming are you running..? Whats the whole setup and how much boost

I've been Stage 3- for about 5 weeks now and the tranny seems to be holding up fine so far. Going with the stock tranny was not my original plan, but was just having too much trouble with the L10 components I was trying to install, and after consulting with Cole a couple of times (thanks again!!), made the decision to just stick with the stock components.

I'm running just OTS (off the shelf) GIAC Stage 3- code with the GIAC Tip Chip as I mentioned before. Matrix also installed a Hitachi MAF and 5 bar fpr and while the engine was out put in an APR snub mount and RS4 motor mounts. I unfortunately don't have a boost gauge yet (next "mod" on the list) so don't know exactly how much boost I'm running, but it was enough to pop my old TBB off four times in a 1-week span. I've since switched to a Samco TBB and got the APR R1 diverter valves and the throttle response is much better and no more boost leaks from the boot popping off. I was also experiencing some "throttle cut" in the upper rpm ranges at "heavy throttle" that seems to have been corrected with the TBB and DV upgrade. As Cole mentioned, you reach the 1-2 shift in a hurry!! I never threw it into limp mode, but I could definitely see it happening if you're not careful, so I try and shift before 6,000 rpms as well and never just floor it in 1st. Or really any gear for that matter; I went straight from Stage 1 to Stage 3- so I'm still getting used to the power and probably shift earlier than I need to sometimes.
