I had to make this decision not to long ago and I choose the Passport 8500 and have been completely happy. I find it to be as sensitive as the V1 my friend owns however it doesn't give nearly the amount of false alarms. Its smaller and more sleek looking not to mention its cheaper. The directional indicators that the V1 has are nice but in most cases I couldn't care less where the cop is I'll just slow down until I see the car. And in all reality if you read and learn a bit about the radar signals you can pretty accurately predict this.

Both the V1 and 8500 are great choices....I chose the 8500 because it was what I liked. Good Luck

V1. Switched from a cheaper one and never looked back. I used to not care about the arrows either. But now that I have it, it's nice to have. If the cop is behind you and the signal goes off, it might show the cop getting off the freeway and coming right back on. You can keep an eye out behind you to make sure. It's definitely nice to know where they are sometimes.

Every detector will get false alarms. On my V1 I have X band disabled and run in advanced logic mode. Few false alarms compared to my roomate running his wide open all the time, and haven't been nailed from disabling the X band.

Remote display is nice too, I have it integrated into my dash under my deck.

V1 vote as well,
Had Passport in the past and now with V1 I dont think I want to go back...Arrows are nice, but I think in comparison to my old Passport it is more sensitive.. I can pick up a cop like 3-4 miles away as with Passport it seemed like a shorter warning distance.

I've read on the forums or somewhere where someone did actual tests themselves by having both Passport 8500 and V1 hooked up both at once and the V1 was better by a small but significant margin.
I think both are great but V1 is THE best.
just my 2 cents.
