I autocross my daily driver 2006 B7 S4, currently on the stock suspension set up. I run in F Stock so I have limited ability to make changes beyond a front sway bar and shocks all around. I'd certainly be willing to change the shocks and I can tolerate some street- ride degredation in favor of faster turn-in and more control on-course. Oh yeah, of course there is the cost........
Any other suggestions beyond the suspension would be appreciated as well - brake pads?

As for pads I have been very happy with Carbotech panthers at the track..I also hear Ferodo DS2500 pads are excellent. peace

You will want very high compression rates on the rear shocks, and very high rebound rates on all four corners. Given the susceptability to surface, course layout, and weather conditions you will be facing, you really have to consider something adjustable. And if you are serious about improving the performance of the suspension in an autocross context, then you really need to consider something that can be custom valved.
I know there was a company that was revalving Bilsteins years ago, but they went out of business. Someone bought up a bunch of their equipment and was revalving them in his spare time, but I don't know if he is still doing that or not.
Konis are an obvious option, but you'll have to have them converted to double/adjustables and revalved because off-the-shelf they are not going be all that you need. You probably want to contact Truechoice directly or I would recommend getting in touch with Sammy Strano at Stranoparts.com directly and asking him for some help. Sammy can also probably help you with a trick adjustable front sway bar if you have the time and money.
The other option is to go with a true racing shock like a Moton or Ohlin. The nice thing about the latter is that Stasis already has some picked out for us. The downside to this option is these are threaded body shocks (at least the fronts are) so in order to remain stock category compliant you will have to tack the height adjustment collar into the stock position.
WRT brake pads, Hawk HP+ is a great option for an autocross setup as long as you can live with their extra dust, noise, and rotor wear on the street. If you want something with a little less torque and tolerance for super high temps, but easier in terms of dust, noise and rotor wear, then I would consider Hawk HPS - I have heard they are extremely easy to live with and still deliver exceptional performance.
IMHO, FWIW...

Thanks for the info and recommendations! Any thoughts on how to overcome the lack of camber adjustment on Audis? I just went through a set of Hoosier A6's in record time.
PMS - I know Sam Strano - he drives in the WDCR events and is currently annialating F Stock in a 07 Mustang Shelby. Thanks

Not in stock category. Keep them pumped up, don't overdrive the fronts (get your braking done early and in a straight line), rotate them frequently, and if possible, dismount the tires and remount with the old inside shoulder on the outside every two or three events.
The bigger front sway bar will help some (it seems counter-intuitive, I know, but trust me, the reduction in body roll will increase your total grip even though it will exacerbate the terminal understeer) too.

Link? I can't seem the find these Ohlins of which you speak...

SNAP!
This is not the Stock category setup Rgood is looking for, but if could find the funds, I would be all over these.
(runs to go check for change under the sofa cusions...)

First off, you don't need aftermarket brake pads for Autocrossing. Your pads dont get hot enough for a more aggressive pad choice other then a slightly more aggressive street pad. An aggressive pad is certainly not going to better your time. I like some good stainless lines, fluid, and rock solid well bled brakes.
As far as suspension, if you want a huge reduction in body roll, you need a really high spring rate with the shocks valved correctly to support them. Swaybars are great but cut the body roll out with the right spring choice first before adding monster bars. Your looking at a fairly pricey suspension system. Check out Truechoice for custom Koni systems or give Stasis a call and tell them your concerns.
You should also play with your alignment settings for super fast turn-in.
Make friends with your local alignment shop. Tell them to cut you a good deal for setting up your alignment before AND after your events (Race & Street setups) Bring them a print out of your specs for Race & Street.
That brings me to Adjustable control arms. Get em.
