or atleast my USP B6. The car is great at what it does, but it's not really a fun car (CVT...yep), but that's not really the main issue, i guess i'm just ready to move on to something with better gas mileage, more lowkey, and fun to drive. I've been looking at Mini Cooper S's and I might actually be able to get the SEMA Mini Coop S tuned by AC Schnitzer with over 40k in parts invested for around 25k with under 10k miles. It's my friend's dad's car (one of his collection of Ferrari's, and Astons). Basically the quick story of it is that AC bascially gave him the car after SEMA was over this past year. How's that for connections? Fuck'n baller.
It's a 6spd, fully loaded, with around 40k+ worth of parts on it. It's pretty nuts, i'll take pics of it soon (hopefully) and post em up.
I've also thought about going the MKV GTI route, the car I originally wanted before the A4...
Anyway, what do you guys think?

Hmm.. Not a fan of Mini coopers, they're kind of gay.
What about picking up a manual B6 1.8T?

The Mini sounds cool if you can get the hooked up one... otherwise I probably would go with the GTI.

I don't see how Mini Coopers are gay...it's a car. Regardless of it's sexuality, it's faster than ours (not saying much), handles great, awesome turbo engine and last but not least, it's damn fun to drive out the showroom floor with no mods. Last but not least, it's a BMW at heart. The car has class and personality for miles and is fun just to sit in. It definitely brings a smile to my face everytime I see it.
I definitely would not get another B6. I've driven manual/quattro ones and even that's whatever. B6's are simply not "fun" imo.
The only A4 I'd get into is a 2.0Tq. Simply because of the 2.0t.
So I've been thinking about the A3 as well..
As far as the GTI goes, I might go that route, I'd want a 6spd because I haven't had one for myself. Even the DSG is the wiser way to go.
me too!! BMW 335i never been a bmw person but that car is freakin nice....and fast!

335i is damn nice, but i'm really not looking to spend 50k for a car. Besides everyone and their mothers has one in my area, and quite frankly BMW's stigma keeps me away.

what do you mean by bmw's stigma??

I hear "asshole yuppies drive them" whenever the subject of BMW's come up with non-enthusiasts. Or how bout, spoiled rich kid car, not too mention I'm Persian, so the last thing the world needs is another persian in a BMW, I don't want to fall into that category. Plus I see the contempt in peoples eyes when someone in a BMW rolls by. I don't need that shit in my life, and I don't want to drive in something that screams "I'm better than you". It's rather pretentious. If I can, I'll hold out for A5 pricing cuz that'd be nice. [:D]
DAMN!! that's what my friend told me too....he said "your going to be one of those heads in a BMW?"
DAMN!! don't spoil it for me....I'm thinking A5 too but the HP doesnt sound good.

There is absolutely nothing gay about a Mini S.... why say something like that?
This is bang for buck the best handling car in the world.... my neighbour has one and it's dumped with 17x9's on it... it's sooo sick!!! He put a pulley on it and the supercharger sound is unreal....
I want to see pics of the one you're getting !!!

try looking into a FC or miata if you want a cheap car that handles very well not a FWD mini

^^defintely won't be doing that, and yeah I have an A8L in my garage, but it's my dad's [:)]
Mini's have a distinct personality and style to them, that alone scores big points for me. I don't want a "cheap" car. I want a fun, well made european car that is relatively inexpensive. I wouldn't dare strip the Sema Mini if I do buy it (which is turning out to be a hardsell because the owners really enjoying it now-he now neglects the other 600k worth of cars in his garage). That's just blasphemous. [:p]
My final three choices are: GTI, A3, Mini Cooper S. Going to go test drive them all again.

i was never really a fan on the MINI until i saw a GP, the second one from ps8oost, and my opinion was completely changed after that, its a nice looking ride that is probably very quick

what do you mean by bmw's stigma??
You're joking, right?
BMW owners, and their respective dealers as a whole, are assholes. Plus, sooooo played out...almost like Ford Mustangs. I swear, every morning, when I drive to work I see 40 Mustangs, 26 BMW's and 3 audi's. Maybe, once in awhile I'll see a mini. Even more rare...is the Lotus Elise (quite possibly my next car, or the S-4).

IMO Minis are quite lame. Too cute...like a Beetle. Girl's car (haha, watch the reaction to that comment) + it's a BMW product which is enough for me. I'll never go BMW again. Absolutely hate them...I'd like to take a molitov to my wife's 05 325is.
Get the A3 with DSG...that was my first choice but the wife wanted something bigger so I got the B6 avant instead.

after 3 wonderful years and around $3500 in mechanical repairs i am finding myself over it. the peeling interior has ALOT to do with that and it also makes me wonder about the resale value. whos going to want car with peeling interior??? and i love how when i asked the service rep about replacing the peeling interior pieces he told me that peeling is only covered during the first 3000 miles. (at the time i think i had 15 or 20k on the clock) then he let me know that the b7s wont have this problem. then told me i should test drive one while i waited for my car to be ready. i knew then that my next car wouldnt be an audi.i like the new 335i i am giving thought to trading my car for one either that or an twin turbo f250

well you might last longer than me. I bought my car January of 06. Let's see if I can make it to two years.
believe it or not, my service manager is the only reason why i haven't sold my car already. She's making it really hard to say goodbye.

Do you still owe money on the car ?? Because you dont want to have to put the money you owe on the back of the loan and be upside down on the loan and be paying more then what the car is worth in the long run.
Monizzle
05-30-2007, 06:44 PM
no i don't owe money on the car, i bought it cash, and yeah, definitely wouldn't want to do that if I did. I'm leaning towards the 07 MINI cooper S...heavily. Such a damn fun car.

I've been thinking about a new GTI too. I'm just not sure I want to go back to FWD. But they're quick and can look sweet with suspension and wheels. I need to test drive one...that will probably seal the deal.
damn a 1.8t cvt owner complaining about getting poor gas mileage.... My s4 is horrible. If gas was 2 bucks again I'd be happy.

If I owned an S4, I wouldn't complain, because it's expected. The performance makes up for the dismal mpg. So it comes with. The CVT at 170hp on the other hand...
Oh, and I didn't complain about poor gas mileage either, I simply said that the MINI gets more mpg...a lot more.

I thought you said you wanted something lowkey. A mini cooper S with 40k in mods sounds pretty flashy to me.
Ive always liked the GTi but I would keep the UPS if I were you, maybe a chip will make it a bit more enjoyable.

Hey man, you wanna rekindle that Audi spirit, go to the dealer and test drive a 2007 A3.... those cars are one word: FUN
hahhaha i had one for a loaner car and i was like...dammmmmmn.

yeah whenever i look at my car i'm just astounded by the beauty of it. when i drive it i'm indifferent really. it's not engaging, it's got massive torque steer, and i chirp the tires if i slightly take off on loose gravel or slightly wet pavement...but whatever, still a looker. i might just end up keeping it, i got so many compliments tonight from so many people that it really made me look at the thought of my selling my car twice. so for now, i'm keeping it. and yes, the A3 is awesome without a doubt but i can't get the options i want brand new for the price i want to pay. so i might go used if i can find one.[:)]

they're turbo'd now nick [:D] that's what makes em so great now. really smooth drive, almost no lag, and great torque. alas, i'm going to keep my car. i love my service manager Ornella, that and i want to stay in the VAG family. [up]
