Recently there has been a trend of Avants being equipped with 20s. So I'm making this thread for all respective owners to post up as many pics they want, along with suspension settings and information. This can act as a guide for others who may want to go this route.
I'm currently running BBS CKs in 20x8.5 ET38. Tires are BFGoodrich gForce KDW2 245/30/20. Stock sport suspension as of now, measuring 26.25" fender to ground. Currently no rubbing issues whatsoever.

3. German Driver
4. Matt Chow

I like it, why not, especially if it doesn't rub at all. BMW M series come with 20's generally and they look fine as well. I wonder through how it affects the steering?
Whenever I've driven something larger than an 18" up front at times I feel pull when cornering aggresively. Do you get any "pull?"

I'm not sure what you mean by "pull", but I guess it can be attributed to the RS4 rear sway bar which is an aggressive bar. The car tends to stand flatter in the corner and oversteer a tiny bit when pushed to the limits. With that said I'd prefer that over understeer anyday. Thanks for the comments guys!

huh? e46 M3 and e39 M5 came with 18's son. Only in 2003 did the e46 M3 get optional 19's.

the 20s look too big in my opinion. i've got 19s and they're pushing it. i feel like the 20s take all of the attention away from the body of the car...
just my .02 cents.

Thanks for the comments guys, but I think the 20" CKs are perfect on the B6 / B7 platform. Once the car is lowered it will be nirvana!

[rolleyes] There are plenty of Audi's that roll on 20s. Ask around and you will find a lot of differing views. Youry and Phil both have 20s on their RS4 / RS6. RE5PECT used to have 20" CKs, Nine1twoInc had BBS LMs, Rodney Primus' S4 Avant, and at least half a dozen more members on this board.

SDS Invidia 20x8.5 ET32 on 245/30/20 Verdestein Ultrac Sessantas
H&R Sport springs and Bilstein shocks soon to be replaced with Stasis coilovers.
I'll be tweaking the alignment after the coilovers are installed to perfect the stance but the car sits at 25.25" all around.
The tires actually lifted the car 1/4"!! [:D]

Thanks for posting that Winston. And yeah, the tires lifted my car up 1/4 of an inch as well. I am trying to figure out the best fender to height for the car after I add the coilovers. Did you have to roll your fenders to run 25.25"? BTW the rolling shots are incredible.
winston@podi.ca
05-03-2007, 11:29 PM
My g/f took those shots and they turned out well considering she that was the first time she ever handled that camera.
My fenders are not rolled but the H&R springs are a bit soft and I'm getting rubbing on the front tires when I go over a bump. Scott @ Rival runs 20x9 and his tire sticks out 1/4" farther than mine and he does not rub. In fact I'm the only guy running the SDS wheels that rubs... but I'm also the only guy not on coilovers. [:(]
Since I am planning on tracking the car a lot more the suspension upgrade is not unwarranted and I am looking forward to tossing the car around without fear of hearing that dreaded tire to fender kiss.
My previous stance of 25.0" all around with my 19's I thought was perfect so I plan to run the same height again... or in this case 25.25"
I like how the arch of the fender matches the curve of the tire at that height.

It varies depending on the region where you live. Here is AZ most cars are offered with very aggressive sport wheels because you don't need to have a winter and summers wheelset and the roads are great... Dad! [:o]

I've seen those cars you mentioned ...and I personally dont think they look good with 20s. Not only do they make the car look out of proportion, they also make the brakes look like pancakes. But i mean its ur car...if you like them, rock them.

What also might be happening is that the wheels are a lighter color than the body of the car wich might make them look bigger (contrast) say if they were anthricite or gunmetal, black any dark color one might not see it as too big...

Those are 19's not 20's H&r sport springs, i'm rubbing with just me in the car i've had the springs about 10k miles and they softened on me i think its time to either go coil overs or i might try to get some hatmann 7 spoke gunmetal in 18's with a little more rubber between me and the road.

IMO I think they look great and if you have good enough roads go for it. If I could do it again I'd go 20's. 18's look stupid (why not just put good tires on your stock rims) and 19's are OK but if you want something to stand out, 20's are the way to go...and I don't think it put's you in 300c territory at all unless they're chrome.
SleeperAvant
05-08-2007, 02:54 PM
^ yeah, I wanted to stay away from chrome. I was debating the OZ Ultraleggera HLT 20" in flat black, BBS CK in Anthracite and Silver. At first I was thinking the ball polished CKs but then they would look no different than a chrome rim.
