Bare with me, im catching up on some old mags and read in an old Autoweek that there will be a RS5, powered by the 420hp V8.

Thought this was interesting since everything Ive heard so far regarding the RS5 has been wishes and hopes.

The S5 will have something like 350hp. It's closer to an FSI version of the current S4 engine than the RS4 engine.

hmm, so what is better: rs4 or rs5?

i would think that the rs4 would come down in price a bit when the rs5 comes out, and, if the rs5 gets some rediculous widebody and bumpers, the rs4 is still better looking.

so what is better?

The RS4 will be gone by the time the RS5 arrives.

AUDI is over using this v8 engine...

the rs5 should have an engine that can dominate allll. I don't want any of this naturally aspirated stuff...

I understand about DTM, but I want some turbo love up the RS class again. hearing that spooling sound next to a 400+ hp engine makes me cry tears of joy.

nothing you guys are saying is really making much sense..
you can have a competing "power number" in the line... i dont think you could compare an S5/RS5 to an RS4.... unless im missing something in the specs/size of the A5......
seems a big power RS5 wouldnt be in the sportier class of the RS4?

i think i just figured out this is the same size as a 3 series... interesting.
i really thought it was larger.

A ton of people were saying "oh ya, 6-series competitor". they were all retarded. it's 2 inches longer than the a/r/s4!!
but ya, rs5 will be faster than rs4. Lighter + tuned for a little more power probably.

I agree...with the new m3 having 420hp, the c63 black edition:

having over 500hp, and the upcoming Lexus having 500hp the rs5 seems to be lagging behind already. I know each car has different qualities and characteristics, you'd still like to see something more. The m3 typically has great steering and is usually lighter and nimble (cf roof), the mercs pull like freight trains with rediculous power, and the Lexus...well who really cares about Lexus.

IMO the s4 should have the 420hp v8, the rs series should be on a uber-insane level. Gimme a twin turbo v8, keep her lightweight, and ill sell my kidneys for one...ill even throw in a lung.

You mean clk63 black. The MB is in a weird place. It's fast, yes, but it only comes in an automatic. It's great for people that want to look good and show off how much money they have, but how many enthusiasts buy one? I mean I'd drive one if it was given to me, but there are so many cars I'd choose over it. Even cheaper ones.

The Lexus isn't out yet, so it's hard to judge. The M3 is the real competition here and based on the numbers it's comparable engine wise to the RS5. The only problem is it's RWD and might be lighter, so it will most likely be faster in dry conditions. I still like the look of the A/S/RS5 more though.

Well there is a c63 black edition, but I think youre right, I posted a pic of the clk63 black. I agree in the *difference* you noted of the mercs, and I know the Lexus isnt out yet, but its still worth mentioning from a power standpoint. I mean, even the new Caddilac CTS-V is gonna have 500hp, granted I would never drive one of them. Its interesting/odd that (i heard) the base A5 is supposed to have a 170hp 1.8t!?

Saw this on an auto news bulliten I get (hoping someone from Audi is listening):

According to Motor Trend the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will be getting the new supercharged LS7 7.0L engine, although it will be detuned to a mere 600 horses. It sounds like Cadillac intends to live up to Bob Lutz's promise to "suck the doors off of a [BMW] M5."

Audi, your turn...

In that video all i could hear is tire noise...thought you'd hear more engine.

Carbon Fiber roof?

If the rs5 has a 4.2 v8 twin turbo im gonna start whoring myself out in Orange County to bored housewives so I can make payments.

Audi have to worry about handling and weight saving. They are doing that with the A5. So I dont mind if it gets 450BHP. It's more than enough if it gots a twin turbo. With low cost chip tuning you will get around 500BHP. That would be enough to eat the new M3
