so is the key a "conventional" key or is it more like what we're seeing now-a-days; the kind where you walk up to the car and the doors unlock automatically, then you sit in the car and all you do is push the start button without inserting the key into the ignition?

The A/S5 has a push button ignition. So that would be the latter.

On cars with the optional "Advanced Key", you can keep it in your pocket and press the Start/Stop button.

On cars without it, you insert the "key" in a slot (like VW) and then press the Start/Stop button.

No holes for the valet to hang the key on his board.

Then again, I don' t think I'd let a valet park my new S5 for me....

In the picture it looks like the top left corner might have a hole and if not it looks like audi made it so that chrome part seperates from the plastic part like infiniti to give to valet.

i want a button that keeps the valet from revving it over 2500 RPM!!!! lol. i would never let a valet park my s5 if he wasnt competant at manual, one false rev and id be telling him to let me park it. he can keep my key but if he fucks the clutch hes dead!!!!

thats genius!!!! we could sell it through dealers like the bluetooth addons for people's phones (although now they come standard a lot). we could patent it so we get a royalty whenever someone uses it... although technically we couldnt because its actually a rev limiter... although controllable... lol

Even the new BMWs still require you to put the key in the ignition before starting which make the option rather pointless.

The new key looks great but I think the current ones are already the sexiest keys around. I mean comon how much cooler can you get than a switchblade style key?

switchblade style keys went out of style years ago... merc has had them for about 8 years.

i just googled around and apparently theres a way to hak your car's computer so you can limit the revs when engaged in a certain mode? i dont really know how it works all the cars they were describing were models id never heard of.

Well nobody I know drives a Benz so I could care less. Anyway I prefer the style mainly becuase it prevents the key from digging into my leg in my pocket.
