Raced a GT 4.6 Mustang Tonight

Was heading up to La Center, on 205 North. Saw a mid 90's red GT and decided to play with it a bit. I passed it, and saw that thing take off to pass me. Right there I knew I was fucked. Bastard pulled like crazy. So we lined up, and I dropped to 3rd. Went from about 65-100, and this thing just fucking walked me. Ended up rolling next to him at around 45, and my buddie asked if he was stock. The guy ended up having heads, Exhaust, not sure if it was cammed or anything, but that thing sure as hell flew.

Considering I'm doing close to 280WHP I'm figuring this guy was at 400-420WHP

I have a 2000 GT, and there is no way he had that much power from just heads and exhaust, The sn-95 stangs use the 99-04 heads as a head upgrade, and even ported don't add that much. However the cars can def be quick. My car has pretty much all the bolt ons short of heads or FI, and it runs high 13s (13.7 - 13.9) pretty consistently. Not too shabby, but mine is for sale as well, prolly to make room for one of Tony's creations

Again I'm not all 100% sure what he had. Looking on drag times I see a lot of people seem to be running 75-150 shots on almost every set up. Don't know if he didn't mention that or what.

I know I wouldn't have a problem beating him if he was a high 13 mustang.

ah, a fellow ex-stanger converted by Tony lol. More than likely he was spraying his ass off. Even with the PI heads you mentioned, they (4.6's) don't make that kind of power. However nitrous would definitley make him pull like that. That's assuming of course he didn't have a Termy motor swapped in or some other tricks.

up to the 1998 gt they (4.6L) came with 215 hp and 285 lb.-ft. of torque, they where running stock 14.9 on the 1/4 . So he didnt come stock if he walked away

There was no way at all he was stock. Like hte previous post from some one, I'm thinking he was spraying. The thing pulled hard as hell. I've pulled a couple 350z's pretty good and a WRX(non STi).

My neighbor has a 2003 GT; intake, headers, exhaust, pullies, tb and plenum and he ran a 12.9 the other day [eek] I seriously NEVER thought a 99-04 Mustang could get into the 12s with only bolt-ons, without FI or spray. In other news, my friends blown GT ran a 13.7 [:p] Street tires > him.

Didn't hear a whine so I'm guessing he wasn't blown. I'm thinking he was bolt ons maybe cammed, and spraying 100-150 shot. Just the way he pulled was insane.

i could beat my good friends 2002 GT and i'm k04'd. he had intake, 70mm TB, and exhaust. even from rolls i could leap out front and some point he would pace me but from digs...he stood no chance. the higher we did the rolls the closer he would be....but the point being is he was behind me.

i posted about some 96ish stang who sprayed the piss out of his car...killed me by like 10-15 cars on the highway. thing looked as stock as stock can be. no exhaust, nothing done to brakes....i posted about it....anyway i pulled up and asked him what he had....IIRC...it was fully built motor on a 200+ shot. i remember his pipes just bellowing white smoke for like 2 minutes after the run. i never saw something move so fast and we started the roll at 80 or so.

Yep this one seemed like a 96ish. Was red. Had 4.6 GT badged on the sides. Couldn't tell the pipes if they were stock or not(midnight), but it was loud.

Seemed to pull the same way as that. When it hit the gas the rear end squated and it just fucking took off. Some of those mustangs are really quick.

i hear ya...i mean i "cased the car" to see if it was packin an S/C or something. tires were stock. rims. exhaust tips were stock...he was quiet. no heat exchanger in the front....nothing. and then i roll up at 80 and he hammers it...quiet but deadly fast. i totally thought i was gonna show this old guy whats up....serves me right....my arrogance. he was just spraying the shit outta his car...but it was built for it. props to him for the total sleeper/stealth look. fooled me and i was checking his ride for a good two minutes before i instegated him.

OMG another useless "street race" thread. Damn guys get to the track and post up some time slips. If your car is really making 280whp then you shouldn't have a problem hitting 13.1 at 104 mph.

Yeah real gay. When you can take a stock GT add 100shot and be high 12's. or stock 03/04 cobra and be in the 11's or stock N/A Cobra and be in the low 12's

What Mike is trying to say is dynos are only a tool for measuring a power increase. Did you get a baseline dyno on that same dyno before installing the eliminator? If not, then for all you know that dyno is reading 50 WHP too high or too low (unlikely).

To confirm the numbers you can either go to another dyno and get similar numbers or go to the strip and bring back some respectable trap speeds.

Your right in one regards. It is Cheap. LOL a Cheap way to make a car run a hell of a-lot faster. Some use turbos, some use Superchargers and some go with the gas. I will take a S/C and a lil Gas thanks

This thing ripped us up on the highway (3rd gear pull) in a Stage 2+ S4 (my power range)

i wonder if the result would have been different in my car, BT 4cyl.. more top end than an s4 on the highway due to k03s dying out?

These things are fast as hell on the highway, but result would have been different from a dig obviously

We raced him from a dig actually, But the clutch slipped and glazed after a heavy launch from 4500, at that point from launch we had a good 1.5 cl's on him , even w/ his slicks. After that, the rpms just bounced off the limiter and the clutch didnt catch any gear after that.

I don't think I'd have a problem pulling him off the line either. I really need to put that SB clutch in. Around 80+ MPH it seems to die out a lot.

I just don't want more down time on my car. Holding off on pulling my cat out for a couple weeks so I can drive it around and enjoy it after the bodyshop is finished. Than I'll do my FMIC along with my clutch and test pipe.
