Can Texans run a front german plate with the TX numbers on it? TIA

It is definitely illegal, but I have seen it. Front plate is required. Mine was off for over a year and I got stopped once in a subdivision where a cop just happened to be driving thru. I think he was bored. I told him I was getting the front re-painted which wasn't a lie, you could see where it was needed, he let me go.

It is illegal. I was running a german plate with my license plate # on them and was still fined....

That f@cking sucks! I hate coming from a state that does not require a front license plate and no emissions testing to one that requires both! I'm going to have to put my cat back in....errrr
Here is what I was hoping to put on (with the TX license numbers of course); BTW, how much was the fine anyways?

Looks like an Italian plate to me?

The law sucks, and if you ever made it to an Austin GTG you would see very few front plates :)

I have a euro plate with my tx plate numbers in the front of my car. but no cops have given me any tickets yet. I've even had speeding tickets and all that good stuff where they went to the front to check for a plate and they dont say anything about it.

Yes! that's what I'm talking about! I absolutely do not want to put a fugly Texas plate on the front of my A4. If at the very worst, I will put the Texas plate in the windshield on the passenger side not on the front. click on the link below in the signature to see my ride.[up]

yea u can always put the texas plate in ur windshield. The law states that u had to have a front plate in but it doesnt state where it had to be in the front.

What part of tx are u from?

Two issues I have with that. It just calls attention to the fact that you don't have it mounted on the front of car. And its just something else to fly around the cabin and possibly hurt you if you are in a powerful enough impact.

Pretty much every new Lexus is sold here without a front plate. I wouldn't even worry about it. Euro plate is risking a traffic stop a lot more than not having a plate at all IMO.

Most of the cops here don't care if you have a front plate or not. They only stop you if you're cruising through downtown without one, and that's mostly due to the ricers and wannabes that speed through downtown trying to show off for the tourists at night.
