Id have to say the brand new Goodyear ones. All the people on my M3 digest is raving over them. Considerably more so than the previous winner of the SO-3.
However, from what Ive used so far(and Ive used a lot) Id have to go with the near R-compound BFGoodrich KD. They are tough to find in a set of 4 because each tire is designed for a specific corner, but they are the best in dry and handling.

Goodyear F1 GS-D3s my favorite, followed closely by the S-03. If you are going for premium all weather summer traction.
Had Pirelli P-Zero Rosso's. Installed Falken Azenis ST-115's on my 19's. I live in Florida. Great tires, Wet or Dry. Sticky. My buddy has them on his chipped TT 225. The thing corners like it is on rails.
Tread ware 360. Good quality and decent price. Got mine from Edge Racing.

I'm running Yokohama AVS Sports and they've been great. not only in performance, but considering how low i am, with regular rotations, the tires are holding up great.

Yokohama AVS Sports! They have 20% more tread life and the performance to go with it.

My current fav is Dunlop SP Sport MAXX (the latest UHP tire from Dunlop) closely followed by GY F1 GSD3.

I've got to throw the P-Zero Nero in there (220 treadwear). Light, good performing, quiet, ride nice, wear nice. Surprised not more people are running them, that's all I can say.

The Toyo Proxes 4's are working out quite nice so far in dry conditions. I think I'll be getting the T1-S next though, to finally try out an "Ultra" rated tire.
I had the Nitto NT555 before these and that tire was very good in both dry/wet traction/handling IMO. Lasted about 25K miles (had 22K miles with tread left).
The Falken Azenis ST-115 was another one I wanted to try, but I heard it wasn't much better then the NT555 (and some didn't get good mileage either).
Tires are very subjective. Depends on your needs/driving, climate, budget, what kind of mileage you want from them,..etc.
Keep in mind that Treadwear ratings only apply to the tire brand. Not relevant across brands.

I really like the Conti Extreme's.. Even thou they are an Allseason tire, they are super quiet and have a good tread wear rate..
Ive also liked my Falken 451's

I've been amazed on how well my Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires have been performing for the past 8,000 miles. Smooth, quiet, and good grip when taking the turns. I've had it on the track for a weekend and they were great! Treadwear is good for high performance tires. It has my vote as best tire. [:D]

You want a good, reliable, soft-compound tire with a stiff sidewall that lasts substantially longer than the others at a good price, might want to consider the Yoko ES100's. The ES100 will outlast the AVS Sport, but last time I checked on TireRack, they were on special for $98 a tire. These tires work excellent in the dry, as well as wet. When warmed up at the track its compound tend to "keep itself together" for an occasional beatings, unlike my stock Conti2's that turned to "chunks" of rubber. Of course, if you want something better, there's always the S03, AVS Sport (my favorites), but those also cost much more, are a lot noisier (rougher ride), and last only a fraction of the ES100.
No matter what you do, STAY AWAY from Sumitomo's. (Despite rappers rapping about them on their Escalades, and TireRack buyers giving them high ratings) They are the worst tires I've used (totalled one car in the past (HZR) and made current Audi handle like a Geo Metro on baloons (HTR+)). That's the tradeoff with All-Seasons though.
I dont think you'll go wrong with ES100's especially on an Audi. Now if you had a RWD, I'd tell you something different... but you DO have Quattro right? :)
