How can I remove them to clean the carpets? Also can carpets be removed and shampooed at home?

It's pretty easy really. The hardest part is getting them out without scratching anything. I am assuming you have manual seats for these instructions, I think power seats are probably even easier. First off, I would recommend putting the seatback back far enough so you can remove the headrest. This will give you more room to work with to get the seat out of the car. Then there are 2 screws and plastic pieces at the back of the rails that you remove. The one towards the middle of the car has a little cap over it that you have to remove before you can see the screw. Then there is a little clip in the front on the center rail. Remove that and the little piece of rubber. Then look under the seat and disconnect the wiring harness connectors. Now you can just slide the whole seat backwards out of the rails. It takes a little coercing to get it out because it's a tight fit. You have to work it past the little bits of carpet at the end. Once you've got it out of the rails, BE VERY CAREFUL when removing it from the car. The edges of the seat rails can very easily scratch up the plastic bits and door sills. The seats are heavy and awkward, so take it easy while lifting them out. I tried to rush it and I scratched up the previous mentioned bits.
