so i was rear ended about a week ago and never called the highway patrol to fill out a report because the damage wasn't that big. I ended up with a 2" whole in my rear bumper and wanted to settle the situation without insurance companies. I got all the ladies info except for her insurance information and thought that we can settle this with her paying me $200. Turns out that the cost of damage is $750 and I dont have her insurance info. I do have her driver license number, date of birth, address, and license plate number. I called the lady to tell her that it will cost $750 to repair the damage but she only wants to give me $300.

Anyone know how I can find out her insurance info (she is not cooperating and doesnt want to give me her info) with the information I have on her? PLEASE HELP!

What would u do if you were in my situation?

Ask for her insurance information? If not bring the police into this / your insurance company, Im sure they can easily find out who holds her insurance policy.

Man, I don't know about where you live, but here if you don't get it done right after the accident, you're screwed.

You can threaten her with the police and tell your insurance company, but that's all you can do.

Not trying to be a dick, but you may have just learned an expensive lesson. If it's not your fault, why didn't you get the police involved immediately?

I would try telling her youre going to get the cops involved, id also have an estimate from a shop handy so she knows youre not trying to rip her off

i didnt get the police invovled because when i looked at the damage it didnt seem that it was major. Even though it wasn't my fault, my insurance rate would go up just for being in an accident and thats the last thing i want to have happen.

Ya, i went to four different auto body shops and got four different estimates. The cheapest estimate was $750 and that was from a shop that they knew someone who worked there.

In PA the police will only write a report on an accident that causes bodily harm, or if a vehicle needs towed. That being said even if the vehicle didn't need towed and no one was hurt the police still would have written a citation to her for following too closely or not having her vehicle under control. The best thing for you to do at this point would be to inform your insurance company, they will probably have you pay you deductable and then go after her to get your deductable back to you. If that doesn't work there is always small claims court...

I know I can't speak for all insurance companies, but all the ones I have had (State Farm, All State, Progressive) don't make you pay any more unless it was your fault or you file through them.

Man, I don't know what to tell you. She can pretty much deny the whole event ever occurred now (that's not honest, but it could happen) and there's not much you could do to prove it unless you have pictures, etc. from the scene of the accident.

Just tell her you're filing a report with the police and that your insurance company will contact her's soon if she doesn't pay up.

pretty much you are screwed. all you can do is make theats of police and insurance because she can deny. BUT i would exhaust diplomacy before you go that route!!!
