If it really does what it claims...then wow. But it seems like BS.

If it works, I think a lot more people will hop on. Good numbers for the money!

is it me or can i not click on the dynojet chart and blow it up. i can t read it at its current size. whats the claimed gain?

Yea I can't blow it up either, convenient eh?

It claims 5%. Since people always overstate that kinda stuff, I'm guessing 3%? For a stock 150HP car or a chipped car (almost 200HP), that means about 4-6 HPs for 50 bucks. Not bad at all, but I wonder how hard installation would be...

Please let us know Mike! I am sure it would be a PITA to install, but so was my snub mount, and it was the same price...

Oh yeah, and one question - check out the part number chart first:

Audi Applications

SKU Vehicle Year Notes
GAS001 A4 1.8T 1999 - 04 All NON-AEB Heads
GAS002 A4 1.8T 1997 - 98 All AEB Heads
GAS001 TT 1.8T 1999 - 04 All 1.8T motors

I am assuming it means 99.5-04 All NON-AEB Heads. I know my car is a '99 and it is an AEB.

Look on your engine. You will see AEB on the head itself.

What is AEB. have seen that online a lot and other placed. I know it has something to do with the engine, but what exactly....

No, I understand that. I know my car is an AEB and it is a '99 - not a 99.5. That was what I was saying...

It should read:

GAS001 A4 1.8T 1999.5 - 04 All NON-AEB Heads
GAS002 A4 1.8T 1997 - 99 All AEB Heads

not

GAS001 A4 1.8T 1999 - 04 All NON-AEB Heads
GAS002 A4 1.8T 1997 - 98 All AEB Heads

See what I mean?

It's your engine code. Like MKGIY said, it's stamped on the head.

I have a 99.5 and it's an AEB head!

Bought one and installed it....it definately lowers the temp on your intake manifold....don't know how much air temp it decreases though.

did you feel an improvement in power?

ECS has a dyno chart on the gasket with a 10hp gain and 7lb/tq gain!

ECS has one like this, claims the same HP rating as well (I believe) and no, will not fit AEB Motors...

I bet it works, for cooling anyway. And the price,, well how much can you really charge for a gasket? Seems about right.

One potential pitfall of this thing that I've been reading on AW is that if the heat is not absorbed by the cylinders (or wherever the gasket dampens the heat) it has to flow elsewhere into other parts of the engine. Whether or not this would hurt performance is arguable though...as long as it's not getting into the air box or something.

Coupled with an FMIC though, I bet this could be a very effective mod.

I would also get their longer bolts and washers,, the bolts will take care of most of the heat disipation.

Hmm, so what gives? Are there some 99.5s that come w/ AEB heads, or do all 99s have AEBs?

Sorry, I just want to know for some unknown reason. If they all have AEB heads, then why doesn't it the 'spec list' note that?

Thanks,
Mike
