Thats crazy.... is it like forged everything?

JMTx86

Na, thats why he only runs an agresive tune when we goto the ave. He coud run the 400 whp HP daily but it ez to change maps.

Not really sure, we picked the car up i jersey, the original owner was some sort of moron. He blew the first motor up, it had a whole in the block 6" long and 4" wide. He had also hit a deer a couple of months before. My buddy traded his biult mistu, 375 daily whp on pump gas, for the WRX. He was having problems with the trany in the mitsu so it was def worth it.

Snow Trooper
04-05-2007, 02:41 PM
so if it isnt forged everything does he retard the injection pulse width to keep things ok with the more aggressive tune?

What are you trying to get at? the motor has no problems running 400 whp on the stock block

what does he do about the pulse width of the injection though? does he have a anti-lag setup?

do you guys know of a white WRX (earlier model like the blue one in picture) with a FMIC, full tune, turbo upgrade, gauges on the Pillar, etc... in the Deer Park area? Cause he ran me and my boy in his '04 SVT Cobra (orange) StageIII last summer. I was just curious that maybe it was one of your boys. Funny part about that race was the he emphasized starting at a 60mph roll, which obviously meant he had something brewing under that hood. He gave us a run until 70 or so then we completely walked him after that. Really nice guy and was impressed with the Cobra.

Ill look out for you this spring/summer, i roll through there on the weekends time to time if im not busy.

No anti Lag, however is does 2 step, as far as I know he is 1 of 2 in the US with 03 with 2 step on factory ecu. My boy who tunes the car is one of them lucky dude that gets to test new ECU codes from enginuity.

One of these?

Since we're talking about Audis and Subys, i'll add to the thread. [;)]

Heres my other car - 2003 WRX stg. 4 - putting down around 300whp

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b278/Renegades435/1-4.jpg

Still has the 2.0 in it, but with an 18G turbo and a bunch of goodies. Running at 20psi.

I'd say that bugeye above with the 2.5 in it is capable of a bit more power. A guy in my group that has an STi just went from an Sz49 turbo (429whp) to an Sz60 (~500whp). [hail]

I have stage 6 in mine [hail] no need for the cobb tuner when you can use the stage 6 [eek]

On a side note, I like scoobies too, we manufacture a lot of turbo upgrades for other companies:

yea my older bro picked up a red 04wrx a few a months ago. he just picked up an exhaust for it. he walks me all the time, lol. well i do own the 2.8l not saying much unless it gets blown, hmm what a dream that would be. also a buddy of mine had an 04 sti w/ a nice gt35r kit. that kit didnt last to long b/c he blew the rods right out of it. car was crazy fast though.

Yea you could blow a rod with the stock turbo. The problem is people mod the hell out of them but do it the wrong way. They will upgrade verything but leave the stock injectors and lean the poor thing out, or they will upgrade and not tune the car so it will end up leaning out. Even if you put a down pipe, and a down pipe only the car should be tuned otherwise you will run into fuel cut and all sort of garbage.

really? dang. so what do you adjust for the downpipe?

well the thing was it wasn't a stock turbo,it was a gtrs turbo kit w/ a 52trim. he was leaning alot and im asuming his tune didn't do crap. the block basicly cracked and all the pistons were fried. its a shame b/c it was such a nice car that got wasted b/c of him not being patient to wait and get his new manifold.

Its sad that I have an S4 and know alot more about the ru's motor, i think its b/c im scared to take my car apart :) but yea, if you do any type of mod to the out side an intake (the only intake id use on a ru would be SPT's short ram or osmthing simular, CIA sucks alot). The down pipe will c/ you to biuld boost alot faster and the cars are protected from the factory so you don't go and blow it up./ When I put the invidia DP on my boys 05 STI I took it out for a test drive and he was getten fuel cut any time you really got on it.

You can get base maps from coob but thats all they are, a base map. You really should take the RU to a pro tuner that can tune the car for what it has done to it. If you have a down pipe only get a tune, you get and intake and a full turbo back, you need another tune, you wont get fuel cut after the first tune but those motors are very picky. You will see a big gain after fine tuning the car to what it has done.

*****STAY AWAY FROM HKS DOWN PIPES******
they are garbage and don't have a bell mouth which c/'s the wastegate to work like garbage and restrict how much boost you can biuld. You can set the car for 22psi and only hit 18 maybe 19, which a bellmouth style DP you will have no problem biulding 2o psi at 4500. . . .

Any of you NY guys with friend with subaru's that need a tune or anything at all done really I know a guy that is good and is price very fair. He will do a road tune for 300, most pro tuners charge 600 on top of the cost of the cobb a. port. Like I said he doesn't use cobb so you really wouldn't have the ability to change your map unless you yourself had the software, but I mean you can't beat the price.

JMTx86
04-08-2007, 04:22 PM
really? dang. so what do you adjust for the downpipe?

You turn off the fuel cut option on the ecu and you also disbale the codes that are thrown when you go cat-less, you don't need to but you'll pass emitions with no questions.

You can do alot more, simular to what you'd be doing when you chip an S, adjust fuel curves and all that good stuff. If im not mistaken if any time an STI throws a code it will kill your trottle response and disable cruise control. This is for saftey so your car doesn't just take off on you one day. . . . In my freinds case this does nto apply since we are using a WRX ECU and harness and JDM manifold with a cable driven TB

JDM manifold (notice the manifold is extended since no tumblers are used on JDM motors)
