GIAC makes a chip for the 2.8. Do you have a 30v? You could also look into an exhaust

what year is your 2.8?

chips are not worth the money on our cars be it 30v or 12v your best option would be headers and full exhaust system and induction kit, other than that you could go for a Supercharger kit but this will only fit the 30v 2.8.

forget the chip

Wow, a 96 2.8... I hope this doesn't sound mean, but how about selling it to a civilian and upgrading to a newer more modifiable model? Something that'll give you ample power returns!

I have a 98.5 2.8. There's nothing really out there that will make it go faster unless you want to spend some $$$ on the PES super charger.

Your options are, get an exhaust system, chip, cold air induction kit and if you want to spend more $$$ then port and polish your heads.

Just get an S4. Besides having to change the engine you are going to have to get a transmision also(yours is a 5 sp, S4 is a 6 spd). After all the money spent on the motor and tranny and labor, you would have been better off just buying an S4 and probably save more money that way too.

Yeah, swapping the engine in just isn't the smart way to go. If you got that much flow, sell your car and put the money down on an S, and you'll be golden.

see - nos is the way to go when you have no other options!

make sure you put some purge valves that shoot straight up out of your wiper fairing - that's the coolest sh!t when you see that stuff spray - you know your in for a ride!

96, not gonna happen. Get a 2000 or 2001 2.8 and do chip, air filter, and exhaust.

i mean it got a chuckle the first time someone said "naws", but this guy is trying to get help..

Why does every response have to be a comment like that. It slows down everything to make all these comments that are not going to help him.

96s are hard to work with..

for now get an exhaust, ic, chip (not fimilar with 96s 2.8's chips), cf products, major weight loss, air filter, lighter wheels.. i am out of ideas.

I see alot of guys tuning their Vr6 with the 2.8 V6 and getting alot of power out of them , isnt the audi s the same engine?
I think you can do alot, sometimes its not just by upgrading turbo ,superchargers and stuff...Its tuning the block.

they have a lot of things u can do to ur 12v engine but it's a bit expensive....
check out the 12v Development Forum on Audiworld....they know a lot more about the 12v engine and the guy named UrS4 on that forum is the guy that runs the abnormally aspirated site

Just breaking his bawls a little.... but I agree, he wants help, so lets not make fun too much. After all, I drive a 12V too [;)]

Abnormally Aspirated (http://www.abnormallyaspirated.com/Our_Products.html) is a great resource. As is Audi World's 12V Development Forum (http://forums.audiworld.com/12v/pages/1.phtml). Another nice site to add to your favorites is Michael's 12V Audi Pages (http://audi12v.home.comcast.net/), he's also on the AW 12V forum and is of much help!!!

The reality is, 12V's cost money to make them fast... alot of money. A few things are good to have, maybe a piggyback air/fuel computer with intake, exhaust and nitrous. I've been upgrading my handling recently. (If I can't beat them in a straight line... I'll beat them in the corners [:D]) I have quite a bit to do before I'm done though.
I would say, make it comfortable to drive and make it fun to drive. You may not get fast out of it but you'll enjoy the ride just the same. Some things that I have installed that make my drive time a little more fun:

Suspension
Stage II clutch
Short shift
Alcantara shift boot
MP3 deck
Exhaust

lpeezy, I hope this helps a little. Let me know if you need anything else or just stop by the 12V forums.
