Very low redline on http://picasaweb.google.com/brymci/A5Collection1/photo#5055858563061647986
Is that the TDI?
Looks like the S5 redline is low too, I would have thought more like 8k

Only the high-rev 420hp version of the 4.2 V8 engine in the RS4/R8 has the high 8k redline. All other versions of the 4.2 350ish hp engine have a lower redline.
TDI's redline is around 5k.

Point taken for the A5, but isn't the new S5 engine the offspring/sibling of the same FSI unit in the RS4? I would expect similar redline, if not quite as high.

the pic u were lookin at was the TDI, hence hte 4.5 k redline...the s5 will, like hte s4, probably redline around 7xxx rpm

No, the S5 engine isn't the offspring/sibling of the same FSI unit in the RS4. In fact it's the other way around. The RS4 engine is derived from the S4 engine. This S4 engine is now also used in the S5.

Must have been the FSI that threw me off. I assumed that because the S4 engine gave birth to the RS4 FSI engine that the S5 engine which is also FSI came about the same way. My bad.[headbang]
