price on 2001 nogaro avant i found??

Ok My local dealer just got an 01 S4 avant in nogaro with the sport package. 6-speed about 30k miles. Thye just got it in today and I happened to see it and drive it. He said it just came of lease. Sticker price is 31,995. The salesman said it hasn't been inspected or audi assured yet but should be tommorow or monday. He is gonna call me back and work on some numbers then. I know since they just got it they probably won't move on the price too much. But they have had an 04 nogaro avant for over 5 months and a red 01 sedan for at least 3 now. So it seems that they don't sell too quickly. Problem here is I don't think i can afford more than 26k. 28k would be really pushing it for me....especially since i need to start engagement ring shopping soon!

That was long. Do you guys think they will just hang up if I say I really like it but can only afford 26? Give me some good bargaining ideas please...this is the exact S4 i have been looking for for over a year.

They would more than likely laugh at you if you offered them $26k, being that it's a dealer $30k is probably pushing it[:(]

Look at the emblems...If it looks like an S(on the audisport logo) then a "4" by itself it is a 2001.5. If the "S4" is on the Audisport logo...then it is an early 2001. You could also look at the build date. I believe the 2001.5's started at 7/01 with some still being billed a 2001. I may be wrong on that. Or ask them to take off the engine cover and look for the F-Hose just left of the throttle body under the left BPV. If there isn't one...2001.5. The easiest is the emblems. Oh, I wouldn't pay more than $29-30 for it. Hope this helps

emblems can be easily changed...however if you were to look at the instrument clusted you will see the s4 logo. If it is on the right (speedo) it is definitely a 2000 or 2001. If it is on the left (tach) then its either a 2001.5 or 2002. I don't think they made avants in early 2001. I think all avants are 2001.5 but I may be wrong

Besides the emblems the easiest way to tell is to open the driver door and look at the Manufacture date of that vehicle.
Anything after 10/00 (October 2000) is a 2001.5 which should be with the new badge on the Tachometer instead of the OLD badge on the Speedometer.

I'm visiting Australia and dropped into the local Audi dealer (also a Lambo dealer) to take a look.

They had a 01 S4 Imola Avant, 11000 miles on it, for A$84000, which is US$58800. We're lucky that we can buy '01's in the USA for around US$30K!

What significant changes did they make to the 01.5's? Any performance increases?

I stopped back at the dealer today while they were closed to take another look at it...look for some scratches and things like that on the outside while the salesman wasn't there. It's got the 01.5 badge on it. There were very few scratches on it that look like they could be buffed out. There was a dent/crack in the middle of the bumber. Looks like they did a really crappy job trying to fix it. Other than that it looks great. Looking on aurotrader i just found an 01 imola avant for 26.500. Same options minus the sportspackage. I'm probably gonna bring this up to the salesman. It probably doesn't have a hole in the bumper either. Its in cleveland so thats only a little over an hour away from here.

Well the funny thing is they have two of them. Identical. One is on the used lot and one is back in the service area. When i went friday the salesman said they just got it off of lease and they needed to get it inspected and assured still. When I went back sunday it had a "hold" marker on the wiper blade. I dunno if it was for me or not. I acted really interested in it and told him to call me as soon as he could work up some numbers...he never said he would hold it though. When did you talk to them?

Dealer called. They got it inspected and detailed. He said sticker on it will be 32k but they will give it to me for 30k even. I said i couldn't do that. I told him i found an identical one in cleveland with 10k less miles for 26,900. He said that was impossible and it definately wasnt audi assured for that level. I told him i have seen plenty listed for 28k for 01 S4s. I think i would be happy with 28k I have never seen an avant for much less than that especially audi assured.

He said he is off tommorow but to call him wednesday and tell him if i'm still interested. I'm not gonna call. I figure he will call me back wednesday or thursday if i don't call. I know he wouldn't give it to me for their rock bottom price right off the bat you know.

Yeah so dealers always charge more especially since its audi assured to 100k and avants seem to go for about 1k more than sedans do. So im hopin for 28 but thinkin i'll only get them down to 29 =0(

I would love to buy it..however i don't ahve the funding for a 26K+ car...I havn't dealt with anyone but david and Brad (porsche sales manager) but I guess you could call it drooling..I would love to get my hands on one...and do all the RS4 parts...thats one fast grocery getter

Well Still no call from the dealer. They other 01 sedan they have has been there since november and it is still stickered for 32,995. SO I'm guessing they aren't too worried about selling these things in a hurry. =0(

yea there not in a hurry..I would take that red a4 tip but that price needs to go WAY down before I even think about it. I would like to have that avant 6speed...but I hate shifting all the time and its my daily driver and i'm in traffic most of the time sounds good.
