Taking the siren out of it's spot and activating it produces a deafening high pitched screetch...but with the liner back in place and the trunk shut, you can bearly hear that thing.
So what options are there? What do you guys think?
Move the stock siren to a different spot? Replace it with an aftermarket siren? Add a second siren in a different spot?
The stock siren has three wires which I don't know what they are for...I assume negetive, 12v positive and a signal wire?
If I were to add another siren...would I just splice into the wires or would that cause a problem electrically?

The reason it's so quiet is because of the fact that 1) it's in a closed trunk and 2) it's behind the carpeting inside the closed trunk.
Rather than add another siren to the existing system you can replace what is there. If you add another one into the current system (depending how it's wired, see below) you would have the new siren and the old siren chiming when you lock the car. Unless that's what you're going for it could get super annoying quick. The best bet is to find a weather proof, or water resistant siren and wire it up behind the rear bumper, out of the trunk if you're going direct replacement.

You could splice in a relay to the power wire (or signal wire whichever gives the alarm sound rather than the door lock chirp) and mount that outside the trunk somewhere. That way you could have both sirens working when the alarm goes off and only the stock "beeper" working when the doors are locked. This would probably be the ideal solution as it would give the appearance that the car does not have any type of aftermarket alarm but it would be loud as hell once someone trips it.
As far as I know you have the wires correct. 12v DC, Ground and signal. I don't know which is which yet though as I haven't had time to rip apart my trunk and test them since I started looking into this. I'm working on a similar project currently and I'll be posting up what I find when I get it done. I'm leaning more towards option #2 presented here to save the annoyance of a crazy loud chirp every time the doors are locked.

Add 2 piezo sirens one inside and the other out and it'll make peoples ears bleed.

i'd want to somehow hook the alarm to the horn mechanism. at least i will be able to hear a horn from 2 feet away

I spliced in with a relay and it controls the loudest friggen horn I could buy, mounted in the front of the car. I did it so long ago, however, that I can't remember how I did it. I got the wiring diagram off of Audiworld (rest in peace).

It ain't what it used to be. AW Off Topic had me addicted. I stopped AW when the forum format changed and the old schoolers seemed to have left.
