2nd... I feel as if everyday there are more and more repetative questions out there... or questions such as.... "Can I fit this in my trunk with the seats folded down..." I mean come on... seriously?

the problem is, if nobody posted something that has been posted before, there would hardly be anything new.. its a vicious cycle... either its dead, or its repetitive, sometimes we'll get lucky and some new product will be released for us to talk about for a while before that too gets repetitive...

very true, and we have also lost a few guys that suppress dumb comments (Evil) so the obnoxious posts sometimes overwhelm.
its a task to wade through the crap to find decent threads.

the questions that are being asked have already been discussed 10 fold

We're talking about B5 A4's. The car's getting old. Most topics have been discussed and can be found via the search function. So yeah you're gonna see repetitive posts.
I was the guy who asked if a futon would fit in the back of an A4. For some of us that don't have secondary cars- it is def. a consideration if certain things will fit when moving. Sorry i didn't have a tired question like what's the difference between k04 and a k03- and sorry if my question felt too "beneath" people to give an honest answer for.

I haven't haha.. but i had to put my friends cobalt SS front lip in my car, which had a 6'x2'x6" box.. which fit.. so.. if anyone ever feels like asking a question regarding a box of those EXACT specifications... there you go.. it fits... comfortably hah...

ive fit 8 in my car at once too, four 17's with tires, four 17's without tires, myself, and a passenger. oh and some room to spare.
yea this forum is getting kind of boring, maybe i have learned so much that not everything posted is new and exciting anymore.
but i think that since it is still early spring and we just had winter, people are still in "winter mode" and havnt done much to their cars lately. once show season starts people will probably start posting about their new mods, shows, etc.

I've read the forums for 3 years and finally started trying to contribute. Thing is alot of you guys are so experienced because of money and extra time in your lives that you have done things 2 yrs ago that people like me w/young kids are finally getting around to doing. I really appreciate the knowledge from experience that you guys share to save others grief and money. It is still nice to communicate w/ people in my present situation of seeking more power instead of just searching old info. Sorry it sucks lately. I do agree about the can I beat this cause bla bla says I can't threads but it is still fun to shoot the breeze with audi nuts who feel like I do. Chatterbox is nice for less tech based questions and getting to hear from/ know other ziners. Bottom line is it's nice to hear from vets and newbies as well as search the great supply of archives. Thanks.

Ahhhh hmmm I haven't been posting too much, because I have been out BOOSTING[drive] and in the end isn't that what its all about?.
I replaced my busted t3 turbo to mani gasket today, so the turbo is hitting again..... on the trip home too much boost (19+ psi) or so. The first thing I did when I got home was turn the MBC down a couple notches.

k0mpressed!!! how have you been!?!?!? I agree about the forum bud...I don't even post in 99% of the threads anymore. I read the futon one.....no offense to the original poster of that thread but come on man....give it a go and if it fits, it fits. if it doesn't, then it doesn't!! it's that simple!! Asking if "a futon" fits in an a4 is so generic....there isn't a "one-size" futon out there. I really only read threads by the vets. Occasionally there's a few new guys that pop up with good experience from other car makes that have some knowledge to share but they're few and far between.
either way, I still love AZ and I'm usually here at least 3 times a day. I contribute where I can but I usually leave the "silly" threads alone. I don't even have the desire to tell people to search any more. In about 3 months, I learned enough about these cars not to ask silly questions before searching. I'm nothing special so I don't understand why other people can't do the same....

^^ Great post
I think im at the point where its my responsibility to give back. I answer most noob posts bc im not at the level where im too cool, because i was in their position , but at the same time, tried ALOT of things before posting, thats their problem.
They dont attempt to do what needs to be done to/for their cars. They expect everyone to "e plan" it out for them.
Back in the day, i posted after i got on my hands and knees, under the hood, or under the car and all scraped and oiled up then I fudged somethin up or honestly couldnt get it.
I think thats the problem, but as anthony said, there is the tech talk for the older guys. I consider myself a "vet", but not a vet in the BT dept. so im still learning EVERYTHING i can about BT , standalone sys. and on and on...

I hear you on Paying it forward thing Rob. I feel the same way. Tony, Ian, Mike, Sean, Joseph, Jason Mike D., etc... all dealt with my crap in the begining. I asked some pretty silly questions when I was a noob (not saying that I'm not still a noob). You can tell who has some serious interest in this hobby. those are the guys I try to help out as I was helped. Then there's the guys who "just so happen" to be driving a B5 A4. it could be any car really...those are usually the ones that make zero effort to build on the knowledge passed down to them. Those are the ones who don't listen when the vets offer solid advice.
Oh and don't worry, I have soooo much more to learn too. we all do. hell, I still can't even launch my car properly lol!

The forums are sliding downhill but that is to be expected to some degree. Our cars are now between $5k - $10k on a used car lot anywhere in the country. Folks are picking them up cheap, getting a big head, and demanding answers. The Newbies are simply a different demographic buying in at 5 grand instead of 15 or 20. Go browse the S4 forum and you'll see what I mean. It is a more mature environment. Environment is a misnomer since it really just means that it has a higher concentration of more mature members. We have an incredible group of experienced members knowledgeable in a wide variety of fields. The more we tap into that knowledge base the better the forum will be.
This B5 A4 forum is still great. There is a wealth of knowledge in the archives and members are always experimenting. It may be an alcantara interior, a giant turbo that won't quite fit, or someone wanting to move some flexible furniture. There are a few odd posts that try to drag the forum down but don't let them get to you. Toss out a good solid answer and move on to something that piques your personal interests a bit more. Any mean or pointed comments that are made in a bad thread serve more to bring the whole forum's mood down than they do to stop the bad threads. Just toss out a good answer and let the thread sink to the bottom of the forum floor. Populate the screen with good threads and good responses and we'll have a great forum that we can all be proud of.
Now I feel like a mall cop leading a pep rally... now all we need is a badly clever slogan... Less spinners, more winners? That's as bad as I can come up with without better drugs.

This way people that dont mind answering those noob questions can answer them and the people that just dont want read them wont have too. It would also make it much easier for a "noob" to find an answer before having to post since the forum wont move as fast and make a search much easier.

We certainly won't be removing the main B5 A4 Forum, simply to cater to new users. We like it the way it is, it's been working great for years, and will continue to do so. Noobs become vets, vets either stay and help the newer generation or move onto to a newer platform or another make altogether. Such is the circle of life. [:D]

LOL. I dont think anyone said anything bad about NJ. I have been there 3 times, 1 time for waterfest and twice for work. But I can say this, the worst motel I have ever stayed in was in NJ(Woodbridge) and it isn't like it was some no name motel. After that we moved to another motel that had 50 members of the owners family living it in.
