Is this based on the new B8 platform with 50/50 or is it B7?

Already the new (B8) platform. Weight balance don't think it could get to 50/50.
But it will be much better as the B7's.

The reports were that the B8 was going to move the engine much farther back and be very close to 50/50.

15cm to the back be exact. But that doesn't bring it to the 50/50.

wont happen...not with Audi..unless they come out with a rear wheel drive, light weight front engine..basically, a carbon copy of a BMW, then they'll nail it

Although they have used aluminum to reduce the weight in some parts of the car like doors? And Herr Stadler has told that AUDI will focus the near future on reduction of the weight of the cars.

Got some info to share.
I asked about the weight balance and for the 2.7 TDI with Multitronic I got an answer.
It's about 57% front and 43% rear.

Yea, it's not going to be that far off. I heard for the s5 it's going to be somthing like 55 rear and 45 front. The surprising thing is that I keep hearing that more weight will be in the rear. I could be completely wrong though.

Just read in the A5 brochure that the front fenders? are made of aluminum to reduce weight on the front.
According to this same brochure the weight balance is around 50/50!

Awesome full write up of the S5 & A5 in the June 2007 Car magazine.
I quote:
"By mounting the diff ahead of the clutch instead of vice versa, the engineers have reduced the front overhang, extended the wheelbase and improved the weight distribution by between two and three percentage points. In the case of the S5, it's now a perfectly balanced 50/50. BMW take note. Unlike a rear-drive BMW, though, higher performance A5's use quattro four-wheel drive to put the power down. As in the RS4, torque is biased to the rear wheels, in a 40:60 split." p. 120
There are a ton of other great quotes in this article. Definitely worth the $10 at Borders for this mag.
I am SO getting one of these in a couple of years once my S4 is dead!

I think you meant 55F/45R? Although the motor has been moved rearward, I still think they are a smidge off the perfect 50/50 number. Still...this car will handle head and shoulders above all the recent previous chassis. [up]

I can guaran-damn-tee you that it won't be 55R/45F. At best it'll be 50/50. All other figures I've seen floating around indicates somewhere between 50/50 & 55F/45R. The only rear bias figure I've seen is the 40F/60R power distribution ratio, and that is not the same as weight distribution.
