Only started happening during the colder temps here in past few months. Sometimes says it can not read DVD and other times it says the DVD/CD drive is not funtioning correctly. The map dvd i have is copy with one of those labels on it. Could it be the thickness of the label thats scrwing up the drive/laser?? any other suggestions??

TIA

does it read cd? put in a org CD, and try it, if it still doesn't work , probly the laser head is not sitting right, if works, then get another copy of DVD map.

The DVD drive is "fussy" about reading copies - especially when it gets cold.

Only way to solve it is to get a genuine DVD.

yup happens to me here in CO when it's cold out. Let the car/nav warm up and/or warm up the dvd itself and it should work. I also have a burnt disc. Genuine is really the way to go, but at a cost $$$.

RNS-E has protection switch built in for humid and temp. it should protect laser from damage but sometimes prevents DVD from reading backups
