Audi is developing a new compact SUV to take a place below the Q7 in the company's model range. Dubbed Q5, the newcomer is going to be a direct competitor against BMW's X3 and the Acura RDX. The Q5 rides on a platform featuring elements from the next A4 and A6. In order to be able to use V-8 engines, which are considered essential for the U.S. market, the engines in this SUV will be mounted lengthwise, not transversely.

Our computer illustration of the Q5 is shown here with original photos of the prototype captured during tests at the Nürburgring. The Q5 is expected to go on sale early in 2008.

it's a toss-up for me which I would go for, the 5 or the 7, I prefer the smaller suvs, but my god, the q7 is glorious

I agree, and all things considered the Q7 really isn't that big.

Q7 is a perfect size....

Q7 is a perfect size....

Compared to other SUVs in its class, and the beasts in the classes above it. I agree, the Q7 is a good size, which is why I may be getting one.

this looks like someone took a B6 S4 Avant and just stretched it. haha..

I dont care, but that thing looks better than a x3 and a the q7 looks better than a x5

it def. should...just look at the new A5/S5..it has the exact same front end look..very aggressive..i think Audi should follow this design with all models...

the 2007 BMW X5 is sexy ....

the x3 is ugly and so is the rdx

I think 07 X5 > q7 but teh q5 > x5

also the q5 kinda looks like that new mercedes minivan

the first pic with the old front looked more like an all road than a small suv =/
