The word this month is 'unique'. There are hundreds of thousands of automotive enthusiasts out there, thousands within this community alone, and yet only a handful of us are brave enough to venture or even think very far outside the box. In my opinion Audi enthusiasts are some of the most unique out there. We're not interested in the day-to-day American or Asian cars or even the more common European makes such as BMW. There are some of us out there that like to go even further. Hell, even some of you wouldn't be caught dead in a "wagon", whether it's called an Avant or not. So therefore owning and modifying an Audi Avant is as unique as you can get. Or is it?

I present to you this month's Featured AZ'er, Peter Chaney and his 2007 A4 Avant. A quick look at Peter's immaculate Ibis White A4 and one thing definitely stands out, the wheels. Odds are you haven't seen a set of wheels like this before. Peter had all four of his 20 inch wheels custom painted, semi-gloss black centers with gloss white lips to match the vehicle. Behind them sits a beefy set of yellow 6-piston 14 inch Brembo brakes, like a cherry on the top of one crazy banana split sundae. A few other unusual bits around the car are the yellow-filmed headlight lenses, just underneath a custom painted vented carbon fiber hood from Vorsteiner. Below that you'll see more carbon fiber in the way of an Audi DTM splitter below the DTM front bumper.

Luckily Peter didn't spend all of his time simply thinking of how to make his A4 look different, he stopped and paid attention to the engine and to making it go fast too. Going with GIAC for engine tuning, a Racetech FMIC to keep temps down, and a custom La Bree exhaust to help it breath (not to mention sound and look good while doing so). All of these mods, along with several other more subtle ones listed in the following article, all add up to one truly unique vehicle. Modding on this level really shows a blending of art and passion. Peter lets his artistic side show through, and it shines for all of us to enjoy for the month of March. The best part is that we know he isn't done, and we're looking forward to what unique ideas Peter conjures up next!

Future Modifications
I have a few in mind but we will just have to see, my Fiance will kill me if I mod this car anymore before the wedding.

Q (Audizine): How long have you owned this vehicle?
A (1sicknickel): One and a half years.

Q: How has your ownership been with this vehicle overall?
A: I couldn't be any happier. After having a B6 sedan I am spoiled by owning an Avant, and this 2.0T motor is just so much better.

Q: Think you'll be getting another one anytime soon?
A: I have been thinking about getting another car, possibly a White S5, but my Fiance would kill me.

Q: Is this your first Audi? If not, what other models and years have you owned?
A: Second Audi as I said before. I had a B6 A4 that had a lot of mods done and it was featured in Eurotuner back in April of 2006.

Q: How long have you been into Audis and in the European tuning scene?
A: I have been in the Euro scene since 2003.

Q: What about cars in general, how long have you been an enthusiast?
A: I have been into cars since I was 15 years old I made custom audio systems for friends and neighbors and my addiction just started from there.

Q: Where do you think that passion and enthusiasm comes from, can it be traced back to anyone or anything?
A: I can only blame myself for my passion for cars. (laughs) My dad wasn't there to show me cars, 'cause he passed away a few days before I turned 16. I think every guy gets stuck in a similar way. Once you are a car guy its hard to just leave a car stock unless you don't have the money to fix up cars anymore.

Q: What do you most love about your car?
A: I love that you normally don't see Avants fixed up, and I think people on the road feel the same way. The most benefit of the Avant is the space you get for luggage or a snowboard.

Q: What's your biggest peeve in regards to the car, the one thing you dislike the most?
A: Well it's not really a peeve but I hate that I didn't buy the Nav option.

Q: Can you explain your modding style? Do you prefer more go, more show, perhaps a combo of both?
A: My modding style is on a "be different" type basis. I personally try to build a car that you normally wouldn't see at a show, meet, or on the road. My influences come from Japanese tuning and just random thoughts in my head. (laughs) So if I had to answer the question, show or go, I would say it's a combo.

Q: Do you prefer to do the work yourself, or do you have a shop or specific person perform the work?
A: It is a mix of both because there are some things I just won't do because I know myself with certain power tools.

Q: Which mod or aspect of the car are you the most proud of or happy with?
A: The wheels.

Q: Describe your fondest memory of owning, modifying, or driving this vehicle.
A: I once was driving in Newport Beach without license plates on my car and I was scared out of my mind. A cop rolls up on the side of me and gave me a thumbs up. Once that happened I had a new found respect for cool cops.

Q: What would be in your ultimate garage, if you could have any two vehicles?
A: 997 GT3 and a S8 with "Titanium Package".

Q: What do your friends and family think about your passion for Audis?
A: Most of my friends think I am crazy but they know my passion for cars, like photography. Now cars have become my job.

Q: How does your love for cars and Audis affect your life, does it play a pretty big part?
A: My love for cars actually plays a huge part in my life, as I sell custom forged wheels. Also if it wasn't for cars I don't think I would have found the friends that I have.

Q: Have an interesting day job? Care to talk a little bit about it?
A: I work for iForged and DTM Kreuz wheels doing sales and photography. I basically help people continue their modding addiction.

Q: What brought you to Audizine, and how long have you been with us?
A: My friend Duan (FooFighter) brought me to Audizine because I wanted to buy a B6 after seeing his Avant on the street. I have been on AZ since Version 1.0, so late 2003.

Q: When you're not on Audizine, or out playing with the Audi, what do like to you do for fun?
A: Photography is a big thing I like to do, and snowboarding when winter rolls around, and a hella lot of Xbox 360.

Q: Any word of advice for your fellow enthusiasts, a bit of wisdom you'd like to impart on the masses?
A: Don't be afraid to be different. Step outside the box and build your own dream!

Q: Do you have anyone you'd like to thank, any shout-outs?
A: Mom, Sisters, Ronica, All my friends, A4rce1, Nasty 1.8, Jabstyle, Respect, all DA Team, everyone at iForged, Brembo, Falken, Vorsteiner, Autobahn Exotics, SPP, DTM Autohaus, and all the whores on AZ I know.
